Another fantastic year for Brent Knoll Riding Club

If we thought it was going to be hard to top our performance in the 2017/2018 Riding Club season, we were mistaken! The BRC competition year, which spans from October and culminates in the final National Champs at Lincoln in September, saw even more wins and successes from Team BKRC!

The season kicked off last October with a WIN at the Winter Area 12 Novice Dressage Qualifiers for Carol Quantrill and was followed up with qualifications for BKRC member Julie Richardson to the Winter National Championships at Hartbury in BOTH the Intermediate Show Jumping and Dressage competitions with her Hebbens Emmerly. The FOTH Eventers' Challenge suffered entries as the date moved and moved to accommodate bad weather, and with an opening run on grass at the end of March, our team put in an admirable effort but did not qualify. Qualification for this event still evading us! May's Area qualifier for Dressage to Music saw Alys Matravers and the wonderful Fancy Pants achieving 2nd in the Novice Dressage and 1ST in the Elementary and qualification for the finals at Bury Farm in August which they also WON!!! A win for Committee member Laura Richardson at the Area 12 Horse Trials at Bicton gained her qualification to the BRC National Horse Trials Championships - the second year in a row that BKRC has been represented at this Champs! But getting through the the BRC National Champs didn't stop there! A win for both the Senior Intermediate dressage team in June and the 70cm show jump team in July, meant BKRC attended Lincoln for the 3rd year in a row, and this year brought home Team 3rd in the Show Jumping, proving we are the best in the South West! Well done to all the members who represented us in both phases - Dave Luff, Claire Shakespeare, Emma Pearce, Katie Lloyd, Mel Allen, Ros Burridge, Rachael Chick and Kaye Harding. And whilst our Senior Prelim team didn't qualify for Lincoln at the Area competition, they did qualify for the South West and Wales Riding Club championship at Hartbury, where we secured individual 8th and 9th. Well done again to the team representing BKRC - Kim Payne (8th) Ros Burridge (9th) Katie Lloyd and Kelly Logan. So we end the 2018/2019 season once again very proud of Team BKRC and very proud of all the individuals who represented the club at both Area and National competitions. BRING ON 2020!
