Straight off the back of a fabulous dressage run at Hartpury, Member Kaye Popham & Henny (AKA Whatever Floats Your Boat) took part in the BRC 80cm senior horse trial qualifiers whilst representing the club!
Kaye and Henny produced a super dressage for a mark of 24, clear in showjumping element but unfortunately picked up 2.4 penalties for being a little bit fast! Speeding through the xc finish line with clear on all jumping efforts, Kaye landed herself 1st overall and has qualified for national horse trial championships again for 2023
Well done Kaye and Henny we are so proud to have you guys fly the flag for BKRC
In Kaye's own words:
Another Absolutely Blooming Fabulous day with Henny at the weekend! Finally got our long awaited 1st Placing Eventing and our Qualification for the BRC National Championships at Swalcliffe!
Our first ODE run of the season too, after all the cancellations, not having done one since August last year! Still can’t quite believe it, but am just over the moon with how we did and the ride Henny gave me, he was a Superstar. Certainly worth the 4:30am start!
We started the day with the dream dressage test and score to match, Henny held in his excitement and did a lovely test, giving us a 24 and a great start!
We then went onto our nemesis, the SJ! The quiet and reserved dressage Henny disappeared and he was rather keen to get on with the jumping! A speedy, and not always pretty round, but we went clear, and that’s all the mattered!
Pressure on, still on our 24, we went down to the XC. Henny warmed up great, and before we knew we were in that start box on the final countdown. Wow, what a XC round we had, Henny was flying, literally, it really has got to have been the best round we’ve ever had together, and the best feeling ever when you hit those fences just right and soar over them … however, we seemed to get around a little too fast and annoyingly came home with 2.4 time penalties to add … I was so angry with myself, riding back to the trailer kicking myself for loosing my placing for going too fast this time, but luckily only dropping to second and holding my position … a stressful wait, and a bit of eventing luck and the 1st was ours, finishing on an amazing 26.4!
I’m not actually sure what’s more stressful, the riding or the waiting for all the results!!!
Massive Thank You to Beth Date for getting Henny in at 4:30am and sparkly clean, to Jayne Harman for sorting my ponies and to Clare Russell and Cliff for taking me, supporting me, grooming and looking after us both, it really was a Team Seymour Farm effort and I couldn’t have done it without you all … Thank You xxxxxx
