2018 - Brent Knoll RC Riding High!

It’s been an exceptional year for us at Brent Knoll Riding Club. A small club of just 60 members, our whole premise has always been about fun and encouraging our members to get involved rather than focusing on the championships.

However, after our first taste of success in July 2017 when we won the Area 12 Senior Novice and Senior Intermediate team dressage, qualifying for and attending the National Finals in Lincoln, it seems our members have got the Nationals bug!

Team stalwarts, Ros Burridge, Rachael Chick and Julie Richardson have had their foot to the floor this season and accompanied by Naomi Kaye, Kaye Harding, Mel Allen, Dave Luff and Emma Mellor, have had all the 2018 championships firmly in their sights.

After securing individual qualifications for the National Winter Show Jumping (Julie Richardson) and National FOTH combined training (Kaye Harding), the team narrowly missed qualifying for the FOTH Eventers Challenge championship at Aston-Le-Walls, coming 2nd to Quantock Riding Club at the Area qualifier back in February.

Spurred on, the team went on to win the HT80 at Bicton in June, qualifying for the National Horse Trials in Swalcliffe (where superstar partnership Julie Richardson and Hebbens Emmely, finished 3rd in their section and 7th overall).

Determined to attend the Lincoln National Championships again, the BKRC teams challenged and took home the Area 12 Show jumping Senior team hattrick winning the Senior 70cm, the Senior 90cm and the Senior Style Jumping 75cm team events. In answer to the clubs show jumpers, our senior novice dressage team – Lauren Reason, Rachel Kyd and Kaye Harding – went on to win the Area Dressage and qualified for Lincoln.

BKRC Chairman Amanda Williams says “We are so, so proud of our team’s recent successes..”

See all our 2018 posts cheering on our members
